Digitization at Harro Höfliger: Efficient circuit diagram processes with skemdit
user report
“ALL YOU NEED” – this is Harro Höfliger's promise to its customers and thus a challenge for all employees to continually push the boundaries of what is possible. Against this backdrop, the Harro Höfliger team set out in 2023 with the goal of significantly advancing digitalization within the company. Specifically, they were looking for a solution to significantly improve the way employees work with circuit diagrams, thereby closing the gap between eCAD and assembly. Numerous previously tested software solutions quickly proved to be inadequate and did not meet the project team's requirements.
Harro Höfliger Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH
Harro Höfliger specializes in customer-oriented process solutions and production machines for pharmaceutical and medical applications. Its core competencies include customized dosing and inhalation technology, solutions for product assembly, and the processing of web materials. In addition, the company offers comprehensive services related to process development and the product life cycle. In 2025, around 2,450 employees generated sales of €480 million; the export quota is over 80 percent.
The task
The aim of the project was to
- minimize errors
- increase efficiency
- drive forward digitization
- optimize the revision process
- make documentation sustainable
- and enable cross-user editing.
The challenge
One of the biggest challenges was successfully getting the large number of employees on board. Training around 900 people at the same time was not feasible, so the project team developed a multi-stage training concept. First, skemdit was tested and introduced in the company's in-house switch cabinet construction department with the support of b_digital. Global key users were then defined to carry out company-wide training. To this day, the key users meet regularly to exchange information about functions, procedures, and best practices.
„Acceptance is very high, especially considering the number of users. Because the benefits are clear from the outset, we have been very well received.“
“Using skemdit is self-explanatory. The most effort we had to put in was explaining the new processes surrounding the PDF circuit diagram in order to achieve a uniform standard in its handling.”
Insight into project implementation
In January 2026, part of the skemdit team visited Harro Höfliger to discuss the use of skemdit and the introduction of the software on this scale. In addition, new features that had already been planned were presented, generating excitement about further joint steps. In 2026, skemdit is now set to be rolled out at the first international locations.
Die Vorteile
